THE SMART STUDIOS STORY

The story of Madison's Smart Studios (who recorded the Tar Babies, Die Kreuzen, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, L7, etc.) is streaming on YouTube now. Not quite sure how long it's up on there. Just heard Weaker Youth Ensemble at around 57:00.

Covid-19: The Risks, Know Them, Avoid Them

Alright, running out of steam on the blog, but this is a good (scary) article about transmission information. Basically, don't rush to sit in enclosed areas for long periods anytime soon.

Puddle Of Mudd - About A Girl (Terrible Nirvana Cover)

In case you haven't seen/heard Puddle Of Mudd's constipated interpretation of Nirvana's "About A Girl," prepare to have your ears assaulted:

Punk Hangman

So a guy from the band Screaming Females designed a punk hangman game that's pretty fun. Well, it's another temporary diversion. And it plays a song by the band when you get it right.

Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son

And you think you need a haircut! And check out that lazy tambourinist while the singer is killing the keyboard and the bongos!

The Day My Kid Went Punk (1987)

This is kind of a reminder to myself to watch this. This was an 80s after school special about...a kid who turns punk. Starring the bad guy from Uncle Buck and the stars of everyone's favorite, The Love Boat. I'll have to see how it compares to the punk episodes of CHiPs and Quincy M.E. Anyone remember these old ass shows?

Hard Ticket To Hawaii - Skateboard Assassin

Have you watched Samurai Cop yet? Well why the hell not? When you're done watching that, watch this. I don't know if it's streaming anywhere, but it's worth tracking down for scenes like this.

Should Have Posted These On 4/20

Well, it's 4/22, so it's like it's 4/20 too. Right, maaaaaannn?

Watch this:

And then watch her without the effects. I'm not sure which one is funnier.

Fail Compilation - Robot Version

If you're afraid of robots taking over our jobs (and the world), then take a look at these dumb creations. I mean, it's probably because they're designed by humans. Once they learn how to design themselves, then we should be worried.

Ultraboss - This Is Shredwave

Okay, my new favorite music genre is Shredwave.

But if you happen to like 80s synth music 1/100th as much as I do, check out that NewRetroWave channel for more good shit. It tends to get a little samey, but good background music, for doing a line or 2. Uh, I mean, for being online too long.

Dragonforce - Through The Fire And Flames / Drum Cover & OG Video

I don't know if I've ever seen such joyous drumming. Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out the drum presets on an old Casio keyboard.

The actual video for the song is pretty good too, especially for 0:19 and 3:21.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

I was just looking for a clip from this show and saw that the whole series is on youtube. "Series" is British for "Season." And they call wrenches spanners! Crazy!

Anywho, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace was a super funny, fake 80's, Sci-Fi show, set in a hospital. There were only 6 episodes. I think the 2nd episode is my favorite. Some of the people involved were also in The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd, Toast Of London and The Office UK, some of which are available on Amazon Prime.

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared

Very weird "show." And it's British, so you feel kind of smart watching it. They get better at the 2nd one.

Comedy Bang Bang - Memphis Kansas Breeze Sing Their Hits

If you haven't listened to Comedy Bang Bang, it's a funny podcast with lots of character bits. This one is really funny. And yes, there's a video of the podcast. There's actually a tv version of Comedy Bang Bang on Netflix too.

Skatt Brothers - Life At The Outpost

Maybe the best and gayest video ever. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Christopher Moore - The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove

His books are just kind of goofy, fun reads.

The town psychiatrist has decided to switch everybody in Pine Cove, California, from their normal antidepressants to placebos, so naturally—well, to be accurate, artificially—business is booming at the local blues bar. Trouble is, those lonely slide-guitar notes have also attracted a colossal sea beast named Steve with, shall we say, a thing for explosive oil tanker trucks. Suddenly, morose Pine Cove turns libidinous and is hit by a mysterious crime wave, and a beleaguered constable has to fight off his own gonzo appetites to find out what's wrong and what, if anything, to do about it.

Samurai Cop

Description: Joe Marshall and Frank Washington are two tenacious police detectives who seek at all costs to stop the Katana, a renegade Yakuza gang composed of violent and sadistic killers who want to lead the drug trade in Los Angeles.

Review: Terrible/hilarious. Take an edible and turn off your brain.

Streaming: Amazon Prime

Intro

The year is 2020. A virus has enslaved the human race in their own homes and quadrants. An evil orange mutant governs the land. An army of Roomba robots monitor our every move, while also slowly vacuuming our floors.

This isn't a George Orwell novel. This is real life as we currently know it.

So how do we cope? How do we attempt to rebuild society from the confine of our homes? The answer:

We don't. We look at dumb shit.

And that's where this blog comes in. I know you're all on your Twitters and Instagrams and TikToks. But those are for Generation Z kids with no attention span. What about us, with slightly longer attention spans? Where's our content?

So I'm ushering in Internet 6.7. Friendster: The Blog. Why Friendster? Because it was an untapped network for actual friends. Not racist relatives. Not idiots from your high school. Not people you met once 20 years agp, but feel bad about unfollowing. Plus it sounds like something Rob Schneider's copy guy character would say. And we all know Rob Schneider is hilarious!

Hell's Club - Movie Mashup

Not really funny, but a cool mashup of dance club scenes from movies.
